Hormone replacement therapy
Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is a medical treatment that boosts or restores declining levels of testosterone, estrogen and progesterone in women and declining testosterone levels in men. In men experiencing hypogonadism (low testosterone), replacing lost testosterone may help to increase libido (sex drive), improve energy levels, improve mood, improve concentration, improve bone mass, and improve muscle mass and strength. In women hormone replacement therapy helps ease some menopausal symptoms, such as hot flashes, night sweats, and vaginal dryness. It can also help to improve libido, improve bone mass, improve concentration, increase energy, and fight depression.
Hormone levels are evaluated through initial blood tests as well as follow up blood tests and patient appointments at regularly scheduled intervals while receiving treatment.
